Mixology brings together the work of James Critchlow, Tom O’Neill, Siôn Rees and Ed Wrigglesworth. Rejecting convention, the four artists engage with a loose definition of photography. Spanning from sculpture to alternative analogue processes, they explore the photographic image as a malleable ingredient. Through multiple forms of manipulation, the photograph begins to form part of a greater whole; it is deconstructed, reimagined, chopped-up, embellished, destroyed and put back together again. Work is done to the photograph both digitally and physically, as each intervention gives way to a gradual shift in meaning. In all cases, what was once the photograph is transformed into a new object.
